Birinder Tember

Birinder is an established practitioner, teacher and author with several decades of experience of health, wellbeing and stress management. He has trained in many disciplines under specialists including doctors and performance coaches at both academic establishments, such as the renowned Nanjing University,  and on a one-to-one basis.

Birinder is a fully qualified TRADITIONAL Acupuncturist, Herbalist, Certified Nutritionist, TEACHER, Reiki Master AND CLINICAL DIRECTOR AT THE COLLEGE OF NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

He left a successful career in corporate management to pursue his lifelong passion in health and wellbeing. After completing a 4 year BSc Hons Degree at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Berkshire, Birinder joined the London college of Traditional Acupuncture as a research supervisor and lecturer on both undergraduate and Master’s level degree courses in Acupuncture, Nutrition and Herbal Medicine. 

A firm believer in continuous development, he went on to complete a 3 year Post Graduate Herbal Medicine program at the Shulan College in Manchester, a one year post graduate acupuncture program with Roisin Golding (specialist and author of Stems & Branches). Patanjali Yoga with Maharishi Ram Dev in India and Reiki Masters with Carmen O Connor. He is currently in the 4th year of an acupuncture Phd research program with Nanjing University, China. 

Birinder has utilised his exemplary  skills on various advisory boards for the British Acupuncture Council since 2010; Headed therapy for Sanctum drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre; treated patients for many years at the prestigious ’10 Harley Street,’ mentored medical students from UCL and Imperial College and taught tailored Tai Chi and Qigong programs to cancer patients at the West Middx hospitals Mulberry centre for many years. He has worked with thousands of students and patients for general health and relaxation as well as specific health conditions such as cancer, arthritis, infertiity, diabetes among others.

Birinder incorporates a unique holistic approach of traditional acupuncture, herbal medicines, nutrition, meditation, medical qigong and FDA approved Non-Thermal Low-Level Laser technology into his practice.

Birinder is also a certified teacher of Chinese Wushu (martial practice), Qigong and yogic practices. He was introduced to meditation at the age of 5 by his mother who herself had schooling at the Shree Ma Anand Mayee ashram in India. His journey into the martial arts also began soon after with an introduction to Shotokan karate. 

In 1991 after returning from training in Japan, he met Dr Wen Linjun, a doctor of Chinese medicine and martial arts grandmaster with whom he began his training in Chinese wushu and Chinese medical philosophy. 

Birinder is the founder and chief instructor of the Academy of Eastern Arts and an internationally recognised lineage holder and coach of the internal martial arts. He has won several competitions at national and international levels and received recognition for his martial performances by grandmaster Wu Bin (the teacher of the famous actor Jet Li) and in 2012 was awarded the 6th Duan Wei Masters grade in Kunming, China.
